Red Wanting Blue for Hagerstown, MD

Led by singer-songwriter Scott Terry, Red Wanting Blue has toured the US for over a decade and has been releasing records on its own for almost 15 years. 15 Minutes Band Live

The members of 15 Minutes band are veterans of the tri-state area music scene for over 10 years. The varied influences and styles each member brings to the band creates the perfect mix. It consists of longtime friends and former band mates who have found a niche together in this newly formed project.

15 Minutes Band Website

15 Minutes Band – Robb Pipes – Drums

Self-taught hard hitting drummer since 1995. I have played in many local bands and have graced the stage with a lot of talent over the years like KGB (Killer Garage Band), Mischief, Wicked Jack, Reign, Troublemaker (the name suits them) and Burning Mercury. After quitting Burning Mercury I thought I would give up playing for good. I am really FUCKING happy that 15 Minutes found me. I had always heard awesome things about them, and am more than psyched that I am now officially in the band. I abuse my Tama Drums, I crack my Sabian Cymbals, I break my Vik Firth drum sticks, smoke comes off my DW pedals, and I dent the shit out of my Aquarian drum heads!!! I feel this is my time to kick ass. Thank you 15 Minutes for giving me the opportunity, you guys are awesome!

15 Minutes Band – Mike Lowther – Bass Guitar

It’s been many moons since I got the rock & roll bug. Since the age of 14, I have been on a musical journey that includes everything from southern rock to hair metal and thrash. Influenced by Geddy Lee, Steve Harris, Geezer Butler, and Billy Sheehan, I cut my teeth in various styles, from bangin’ with SHAMELESS to thrashin’ with HANGMAN. I eventually graduated to a local supergroup called FELL DANGER, doing note for note QUEENSRYCHE covers (five part harmonies and all!!). Once that ran its course, I helped form an all original project called PEACEMAKER, the tail end of which would bring Billy Red into my life, and I haven’t looked back since.

We formed ELIZABETH’S FURNACE, an all original endeavor that, believe it or not, melded the sounds of PINK FLOYD and ZEPPELIN with a hint of QUEENSRYCHE. How cool is that??!! Later, I enjoyed a stint with Billy Red in TANGENT featuring Mike Lance rippin’ the guitar and Gary Smith smokin’ the drums and backups. Man, the ZEP covers were awesome!! Sadly, Gary moved away and the great depression set in, as neither Billy nor I would be happy playing without the right caliber of musicians. Eventually, fate would smile, and FIFTEEN MINUTES fell into place. With great guys like Wild Bill, hard hittin’ Robb, Billy Red, and the almighty Curt, the chemistry is just right. So buckle up ’cause WE WILL ROCK YOU!

15 Minutes Band – Billy "Red" – Lead Vocals

I’ve been jammin’ for years! My range of influences is wide. I collect BMI royalty checks from 2 songs that were signed by Warner Brothers that I wrote and performed with legendary guitarist Carl Burnett in New York.

I come from a musical family; everyone plays an instrument and sings. I started studying the drums in the 80′s (too shy to be on stage without something to hide behind) under Dave Goiser and Mark Whitesides.

A few years later Mark and I moved to Florida with our ladies. He invited me to guest sing with his band and I was hooked, singing with various bands in Florida for a couple years. I moved back to the Fairfax area and joined up with Mike Lance, Roger O’Dell, and Mark Whitesides to form TANGENT. A kick ass original band, we rocked all the clubs in the tri-state area. 4 years and 2 CDs later we fell apart, opening the door for another kick ass original band ELIZABETH’S FURNACE with Mike Lance, Ginny Lance, and Mike Lowther. I played drums in this band as well as singing lead (fun stuff). 3 years and 2 CDs later we fell apart, which reignited TANGENT with Gary Smith kickin’ the beat for 3 1/2 years and 1 CD.

Then Gary moved away (what a drag). I was jamming with COLD SELLER when a friend introduced me to Wild Bill. After 2 big greasy footprints, 15 Minutes was formed. After a few musician changes the band is now truly tighter, stronger, and better than ever. Thanks Curt, Bill, Mike, and Robb.

15 Minutes Band – Bill Dongoski – Lead & Rhythm Guitar

I’ve been playing for a few years on and off, and have played with a few bands years ago. In 2006 I hooked up with a killer guitar player and realized we made a good team. Through a mutual friend I met Billy who said he knew an awesome drummer and bass player. After some greasy footprints in my music room, a few cases of beer, a bottle of tequila and a stripper named Bambi, 15 Minutes was formed. It was a rough beginning but I think we’re going to make it now.

My influences range from the blues to country music to the hardcore shit. My biggest influences are Billy, Robb, Mike and Curt.

15 Minutes Band – Curt Shaw – Lead Guitar

I’ve been playing for quite a while now. In the past, I’ve played in various bands in Illinois. I was also in Kulprit, Black Aggie, Kryptic, and Innerface in the Baltimore area. I like all types of music from classic country to heavy metal. Some of my favorite guitar players are Yngwie Malmsteen, George Lynch, Michael Schenker, James Murphy, Steve Vai, the guitarists in Mercyful Fate, and Randy Rhoads. Other bands that I love are Testament, old Metallica, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Anthrax, and King Diamond.

I saw an ad posted by 15 Minutes band stating that they were looking for a guitar player. The only requirements were: must have a four-wheel drive, a canoe for when the bridge is out, and a snow shovel. Actually being able to play guitar was optional. I thought, “Hey, that’s me!”. So here I am.

15 Minutes Band at Break Away II Sports Lounge

But seriously, 15 Minutes Band is a great bunch of guys, all very talented. I think we are going to make some great music and have some killer times!  15 Minutes Rocks!

Pop Evil

Pop Evil is the Top of Rock

Pop Evil is the Top of Rock!

That’s right, Pop Evil is one of the leading rock bands in the United States today!

Pop Evil Consists Of…

Pop Evil is an American rock band that was formed in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2001 by vocalist Leigh Kakaty, Dave Grahs on guitar, Matt DiRito bassist, and drummer Dylan Allison. Lead guitarist Tony Greve was originally added as a temporary studio musician for the band but was invited to become a full-time member in early 2007. Around that time, bassist Jamie Nummer left the band for personal reasons and was replaced by Matt DiRito, formerly of Archangel and Before the Fire.

More About Pop Evil

Since re-releasing their first record in 2008, Pop Evil has developed their following the hard way. They have toured the US continuously since their first release, playing nearly 400 shows in two years and only taking time off to record their new album, War of Angels.

Leaving no stone unturned, no fan’s question unanswered, and no road untraveled, the Pop Evil pulled themselves up from their bootstraps and built themselves into a radio rock powerhouse that conjures the dirtiest hooks of the hard rocking 70′s, the hair metal 80′s and the grunge – fueled 90′s…filtering it all through a modern prism coupled with a philosophical and spiritual outlook.

War Of Angels is a testimony to Pop Evil’s resilience. Having been down a major label route fraught with the frustrations felt by far too many bands, the group has emerged with a Top 5 Active Rock single.

Pop Evil toured with Papa Roach and Judas Priest and created what Spin Magazine called one of the “10 Best Moments of Rock on the Range” where in front of tens of thousands of their heartland of the U.S.A. rock fans, they ceremoniously tore up their old contract and announced a new dawn.

With an output that easily appeals to students of Guns N’ Roses, Pantera, Motley Crue and Aerosmith, Pop Evil is still nevertheless possessed with a talent, charisma and overall musical aesthetic that is decidedly and distinctly their own. They have put their stamp on the hard rock landscape with assured confidence and expert precision.

“We’re just a bunch of guys that grew up together and are hungry for rock n’ roll,” frontman Leigh Kakaty simply states. “There are no other second options for us. It’s just music. That’s what we’ve done, this is where we’ve always wanted to be, and grind is what we’ll continue to do.

Coming from Michigan, one of the states in the nation hit hardest by the economic downturn, Pop Evil knows something about hardship and the heart that it takes to persevere, to overcome and to conquer. They know the meaning of hard work, too. Their Indie debut, Lipstick on the Mirror, resulted in a re- release through a major label and several inroads on rock radio but it’s been word-of-mouth and live shows that have really driven the recently renewed momentum behind the band as their unique story continues to build.

“We’re just a good old fashioned Midwestern band that believes in grassroots and doing it from the ground up” Kakaty explains. “We’re the same band that’ll rock your face with some heavy metal riffs then bring out the acoustic guitar and play some ballads.”

Pop Evil’s very monicker represents something of a lifestyle to these five men. “Pop” represents the band’s impressive hooks and well-crafted choruses while “Evil” conjures the more aggressive, hard rock side of the band. The band is a true mixture of pop sensibilities and “evil” sounding rock n’ roll. It’s not so much about distancing themselves from the mainstream as it is about forcing the mainstream to come to them, on their own terms.

“I think all five of us didn’t really fit in, in our own ways, growing up,” Kakaty reasons. “Pop Evil is kind of our way of saying, “this is our fraternity, our home.’”

The songs on War Of Angels reflect the various shapes, colors and emotions represented in a Pop Evil performance. The album provides a brilliant showcase for Kakaty’s impressive range and various approaches, the guitar showmanship of Dave Grahs and Tony Greve, the solid bottom end of Matt DiRito and the rhythmic pulse of drummer Dylan Allison.

“Last Man Standing” is a shot across the bow, serving notice to the rest of rock radio-land that Pop Evil crafts music of a higher caliber. “It’s amazing to see the reactions we get from the fans and how much the song means to them. That is priceless,” Kakaty says.

“Bosses Daughter” was co-written with the legendary Mick Mars of Motley Crue. “It’s got that rockin’ vibe where it picks up and just doesn’t stop,” points out DiRito. “I get such a kick out of playing it live. I feel like I’m in Motley Crue. It becomes my Nikki Sixx moment!”

Other standouts include “Monster You Made,” which addresses some hard times and points to the power of positive thinking to overcome obstacles. There’s also “Broken & Betrayed” which has beautiful melodies and incredibly memorable singalong harmonies.

“Next Life” is perhaps the album’s most reflective song, particularly for Kakaty, who lost his father earlier this year. “Obviously it’s a very personal piece for me as well.”
“And the list goes on with every song,” he adds. “I don’t think there’s any one I love more than the other, I usually listen to the song that best fits my mood.”

With a career-defining sophomore album in their arsenal, Pop Evil are primed and ready to take their rightful place in the hard rock pantheon amongst their contemporaries and heroes. “We want to be known as a band with great music and a great live show,” DiRito says.

Pop Evil is no fly-by-night, fair-weather band. War Of Angels is just one more giant leap in a career that has been built on a solid foundation and is intended to continue onward. Kakaty concludes, “at the end of the day, we want our fans to know that we’ve sacrificed our personal lives for them. We want the people who listen to our music to know that they’ve become our new family. That’s why we’ve given up so much to do this. They are loved. Music is Love!”

The Whiskey Rebellion

Who is The Whiskey Rebellion?

The Whiskey Rebellion is hard rock/heavy metal band storming out from Pittsburg, PA. They are the Baddest Heavy Metal Band in the ‘Burgh! ARRIVE. RAISE HELL. LEAVE.

The Whisky Rebellion was formed by Johnny Burns and Matt Stookey in 2009. In 2010 They promoted a full released ep entitled “The Sweetest Thing”. After successful online promotion and national attention, they added Kevin Grem and Garret Sinagra to their Brotherhood of Badassery. Look for a strong gig phase in early Summer 2011.

Heavy Metal Fans will respect this PA based outfit. They combine Alice and Chains and Metallica like influences to accompany a sharp and talented guitar sound. Heavy Weapons Grade riffage propels their first track Seal Your Fate, and the 120,000 MySpace Plays for Rise Above showcase a strong online presence.
“Hard rock/metal heads will respectthis PA-based outt, who bringMetallica and Alice in Chains in-uences to bear on original tunes.Heavy weapons-grade riffage propels”Seal Your Fate,” a smoldering mid-tempo song spearheaded by Burns’articulate growl. “Rise Above” hasa menacing demeanor and seemsto include a brief homage to EdgarWinter’s “Frankenstein.” Meanwhile,”The Sweetest Thing” actually swings, though the mix level on the drums is jarring. A promising band in Pittsburgh’s mainstream rock scene.”"
- Music Connection Magazine (Sep 01, 2009)
“Pittsburgh needs to be ready, because there has not been a young, talented, and ferocious rock band like “The Whisky Rebellion” to hit the declining rock scene in Pittsburgh for ages.”
- Joshua Lacrone, Fret(A)ware Radio (Jun 16, 2010)
“Now that The Whisky Rebellion has isolated a complete and permanent lineup, the Pittsburgh hard rock scene has its new heavy hitter!”
- Ternous Fine, The TNN Online: Blog (May 09, 2011)
“Time to see who is a real metal fan in Pittsburgh…. You want real metal homegrown out of Pittsburgh? Then I suggest you start showing some love to The Whisky Rebellion ”
